چکیده

Spin-to-charge conversion (SCC) involving topological surface states (TSS) is one of the most promising routes for highly efficient spintronic devices terahertz (THz) emission. Here, THz generation generally occurs mainly via SCC consisting in dynamical spin injection into spin-locked TSS. In this work, we demonstrate sizable emission from a nanometric thick insultator (TI)/ferromagnetic junction - SnBi$_2$Te$_4$/Co specifically designed to avoid bulk band crossing with TSS at Fermi level, unlike its parent material Bi$_2$Te$_3$. time domain spectroscopy (TDS) used indicate contribution by investigating TI thickness and angular dependence This work illustrates TDS as powerful tool alongside resolved photoemission (ARPES) methods investigate interfacial properties TI/ferromagnet bilayers.

Ultrafast surface carrier dynamics in the topological insulator Bi₂Te₃.

We discuss the ultrafast evolution of the surface electronic structure of the topological insulator Bi(2)Te(3) following a femtosecond laser excitation. Using time and angle-resolved photoelectron spectroscopy, we provide a direct real-time visualization of the transient carrier population of both the surface states and the bulk conduction band. We find that the thermalization of the surface st...

Ultrafast core-hole-induced dynamics in water probed by x-ray emission spectroscopy.

The isotope effect and excitation-energy dependence have been measured in the oxygen K-edge x-ray emission spectrum (XES). The use of XES to monitor core decay processes provides information about molecular dynamics (MD) on an ultrafast time scale through the O1s lifetime of a few femtoseconds. Different nuclear masses give rise to differences in the dynamics and the observed isotope effect in ...

Photoinduced molecular chirality probed by ultrafast resonant X-ray spectroscopy

Recently developed circularly polarized X-ray light sources can probe the ultrafast chiral electronic and nuclear dynamics through spatially localized resonant core transitions. We present simulations of time-resolved circular dichroism signals given by the difference of left and right circularly polarized X-ray probe transmission following an excitation by a circularly polarized optical pump w...

Ultrafast hot-carrier dynamics at chemically modified Ge interfaces probed by SHG.

Time-resolved second-harmonic generation (SHG) was used to study the hot-carrier dynamics and nonlinear optical properties of S-terminated and Cl-terminated Ge(111) interfaces on the femtosecond time scale. The hot-carrier second-order nonlinear optical susceptibilities were determined to be 720 +/- 50 times greater than the valence-band second-order nonlinear optical susceptibilities for the G...

Interfaces in Thermoplastic Composites Probed by Laser-Induced Acoustic Emission

The mechanical properties and durability of carbon Þber composites depend not only on the properties of the constituent Þber and matrix but also on the quality of the interfacial bond. Many of the techniques for evaluating this bonding rely on model (e. g. single Þlament) composites (1-3). Besides being difÞcult to prepare and test, these specimens are subject to the criticism that they may not...
